Stuttgart Saturday – the Porsche 986 Boxster S of Ben McLoughlin @CastleClassics 2019 – winner of the 2019 Porsche Club GB Classic Restoracing Championship.

This race series, introduced in 2018, is run by the Porsche Club GB and is for early Porsche Boxster S cars restored and prepared for racing – essentially road going cars with added safety equipment. The cars are built and raced by staff from the UK Porsche Centres – Ben’s car entered by the Bournemouth Centre. A 60,000 mile example still producing 257bhp.

There are five race weekends with two rounds at each meeting. The tracks used are Brands Hatch (GP and Indy layouts), Snetterton, Oulton Park, and Donington Park. The grids vary between 15 and 40 cars. Unlike most race series, it is the car that scores the points, not the driver. This allows for different drivers to compete over the season. All the car’s must be in a famous Porsche livery. This one is in the famous Martini Racing yellow and red "Hippie Livery" seen on the Porsche 917 in 1970 raced by Jo Siffert / Kurt Ahrens, Jr.

Matt, a professional driver having raced in British GT and Formula Renault, carried a weight penalty to allow for his experience when some of his fellow competitors were novice racers. He won 8 of the 10 races on his way to the Championship. Matt is also a Porsche Driving Consultant at the Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone.

A very competitive Porsche race series, and a dominant performance from Matt in the year when the Boxster celebrated its 20th Anniversary.
