EVO magazine was founded in November 1998 by Harry Metcalfe – a farmer and property developer who became involved in road tests for magazines after he purchased a Maserati Ghibli Cup car. The magazine name is derived from the Maserati Quattroporte Evoluzione. After many successful years at the helm, Harry Metcalfe departed EVO in 2013 to work for Jaguar Land Rover. He later founded his excellent YouTube channel “Harrys Garage”

Harry was voted Automotive Influencer of the Year for 2020 and well deserved. His road test videos are very informative and are all about the car – a refreshing change from the usual smug auto influencers who are mostly full of themselves and their wealth...how dull!

EVO contributors over the years have included Top Gear’s Chris Harris, Henry Catchpole and Jethro Bovingdon – all highly respected journalists and car testers. The magazine’s tag line is “the thrill of driving” and it always selects the most exciting cars and puts them through their paces. From its inception, EVO has selected its Car of The Year and this is eagerly awaited by all petrolheads. Previous recent winners have included the Porsche Cayman GT4 and McLaren 600LT – watch these two videos to see which car lifts the 2020 ECOTY title. The EVO team assess a large collection of cars on some awesome Welsh roads and, ultimately, the stunning Anglesey race track – sit back and enjoy...it is a great watch!
